Species caught in ghost nets die, which in turn provides food for other aquatic creatures that also become entangled and die, creating a deadly cycle. This continues until the nets break down into microplastics. By collecting fishing nets, this vicious circle can be stopped and the nets can be transformed into new products that contribute to a sustainable planet.
